The Ultimate Buying Guide for a Paintball Gun

The best paintball gun for your fellow paintballer may not be the best choice for you. The world of paintball is brimming with variety and choices. As there are multiple ways of playing the game, so are the different weapons to conquer certain battlefields.

Here are the key factors and considerations that will ensure you make a wise and satisfying purchase. Let the quest begin!

Top Rated Paintball Guns Reviews

Define your Playstyle: Know Thyself

Before you venture on the journey to explore paintball guns, you need to explore yourself. You need to know which game style you prefer. Are you a stealthy sniper, picking off opponents from a distance? Or do you prefer to charge in a fray, unleashing rapid fire barrages? Or maybe it is in the woods where your soul belongs?

Determine which type of gun you are looking for. And see if it is a rifle for sniping, an electronic, full auto marker for speedball, a solid and sturdy gun for woodsball, or a pistol for close encounters.

Marker Type: Choose Your Weapon

You may already know that there are three main categories of paintball markers.

  1. Pump Action

If you crave action and the nostalgic feel of classic paintball, pump action markers are your ticket. These require manual cocking before each shot, promoting accuracy, stealth, and a satisfying sense of control. They are also some of the most inexpensive paintball markers that you can rely on.

  1. Mechanical Markers

Mechanical markers, also known as semi automatics, offer a balance between simplicity and performance. With each trigger pull, they fire a single shot, making them user friendly and reliable. Ideal for players seeking consistent fireplay without having to be worried about complications of electronics.

These are affordable, durable, beginner friendly, and the most popular kind at rentals.

  1. Electronic Markers

For adrenaline junkies and speed demons, electronic markers are the pinnacle of paintball technology. These advanced markers utilize electronic triggers and boards for rapid fire bursts with adjustable firing modes. These are often a bit more pricey and fragile so you need to be careful with them.

You can read all the details about these Paintball Guns categories in our article here.

Accuracy: You Gotta Hit the Target

No matter what kind of marker you are looking for, if it is not accurate, it is no good. After all you need it to hit your opponents, if it is not doing that, you may just go without having one.

Accuracy can be boosted with after-market barrels but some markers are better at it right out of the box to save you from the hassle.

Accuracy of best paintball gun

Range

Another crucial factor to consider while choosing the right marker is its range. The range varies with the type of marker you are using, and just like accuracy, it can be boosted by installing aftermarket barrels. But do keep in mind that not every barrel serves the same purpose. A sniper barrel will make your gun better at accuracy, but you will need a flatline barrel to shoot to a longer range.

The kind of ammo you are using in your marker also makes a difference in its range. Good quality paint gives you a better effective range but if you are familiar with first strikes, and have a good aiming skill, there is nothing stopping you to double the effective range of your marker.

You can get all the details about in our article “How Far a Paintball Gun Can Shoot” and can also learn some methods to increase the range of your paintball gun.

Durability

Paintball fields are not any less than battlefields. You are facing the risks of bumping into boulders, trees, and sometimes just hitting the ground because you need to ditch that paintball coming towards you. Now, in this scenario, if your marker is not durable and has a solid build to withstand all the rough and tough conditions of paintball fields, it is certainly not good enough.

You can afford to have a fragile marker in speedball fields as they are smooth and calculated, and much more forgiving, but if you have one such marker in woodsball fields, mark our word, you stand no chance!

Read reviews and listen to those who have already used the gun.

Caliber

Paintball markers are also categorized by the size of ammo they use. There are three main types:

  1. .68 Caliber Markers

These markers are the most common and take the biggest size of paintball ammunition. These are also called traditional or standard paintball markers.

  1. .50 Caliber Markers

These use the smaller size of paintball rounds and are often set on a lower velocity. These are also called low impact markers as the smaller ammo reduces the impact and makes them much less painful. These are ideal for young and beginner players who are afraid of the paintball sting and this all comes under Low-Impact Paintballing.

  1. .43 Caliber Markers

These markers are seldom used in paintball fields and are often used for self defense and training purposes. They use smaller ammo, but the higher velocity setting makes them more effective and powerful to serve the purpose.

how far can you shoot a paintball gun

Comfort Level

Now that you are on the quest for the best paintball marker, you cannot omit ergonomics. If you are not comfortable with your weapon, you cannot take the best out of it. It is better to consider the factors like a comfortable grip, a foregrip, and an adjustable stock, as they can make a lot of difference in how you hold your gun and operate it.

Customization

Regardless of how perfect your marker is, you will feel the need to make a few changes to make it more personal and adjust it to your physique, preferences, and playing style. You would want to add accessories to make it look and perform better.

Look for the gun that allows customization. The more personalization it accepts the better so you can modify it to your preferences even if you decide to make differences in your style of playing.

Maintenance

If you own a weapon, you need to maintain it to extend its lifespan. For some markers, it is easy to reach their internal parts and troubleshoot them for any problems. For others, you will be needing all kinds of tools to disassemble only to give them a deep cleaning.

So, if you are not so good at technical stuff, go for the easier to maintain options and make your life easier.

Versatility

Some paintball markers are quite strict about what they are offering. Others are far more lenient about what kind of gas they are taking, what kind of ammo they are compatible with, how far you can adjust the velocity, and much more. The more options your marker gives you, the better because that will let you play in different styles and fields.

Budget

And lastly, you cannot purchase what you cannot afford. Consider your budget and go for what comes under it. Instead of spending all your money at once, you can make a wise decision and choose a marker that you can upgrade later.

You can buy a paintball gun anywhere from 50 Dollars to 2000 Dollars. Our list includes the best markers of all price ranges so whatever your budget is, you can certainly find the best for it.

What Comes in the Box?

This paintball marker comes in the sturdy cardboard boxes, typical to Tippmann markers. All the different parts of the gun have allocated indentations inside the box.

The box contains your main marker body, a barrel, a feed neck, a few O rings, some Allen keys, and lube for maintenance. Apart from all these things, you will also get a manual that you must read before you do anything with the marker.

Design and Build Quality

The Tippmann 98 Custom has been in the market for quite some decades now, and it has undergone many changes throughout these years. Tippmann has made the gun to its best form ever.
The main body of the marker is made of the best quality aluminum and that makes it one of the most durable paintball markers ever.

This marker belongs to Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series that features a change in design to make it more user friendly and easy to maintain. In this series, the flap covering the main assembly and the bolt comes in two pieces so you can open the marker from whichever part you want to and deal with the inside without having to touch the other parts.

Tippman 98 Custom Platinum Series ACT Paintball Gun

The marker has a safety switch right above the receiver that eliminates the risk of accidental shooting.

The feed neck is quite easy to attach. All you need to do is to click it in the two pins connected to the side of the barrel and then push it upwards at an angle until it reaches its seat.

The marker also features a foregrip for easy handling and precision in targeting.

Durability

This is one of those types of guns that you can use in dirt, debris, snow, or rain and they will keep on working no matter what. These guns are also called the workhorse of the paintball industry and for very good reason.

This is the favorite gun with paintball rentals all over the world because they are unlikely to break no matter how they are being used in the rough and tough fields of paintball.

Performance and Accuracy

The Tippmann 98 Custom features a pretty straightforward inner system which is common to many Tippmann markers and this system is guaranteed to work. It is a tried and tested system that has been working for decades now.
It is a .68 caliber, standard paintball marker that has a 50 feet range of accurate shooting. It is a mechanical, semi automatic marker and the firing rate depends on how quickly you can pull the trigger.

Anti Chop Technology (ACT)

This particular model of Tippmann 98 Custom is coming with the ACT or Anti Chop Technology to prevent ball chopping inside the marker. As ball chopping is quite common in mechanical markers, Tippmann has added an extra spring in their ACT markers to prevent it from happening. This spring stops the bolt from hitting the ball if it is midway.
Does ACT eliminate the risk of ball chopping and your gun always keeps clear of the broken paint?

The answer is NO. Yes, it does minimize the risk but does not entirely eliminate it. We recommend using a cyclone hopper on your marker if you want to stay clear of all paint.
You can also consider having the Tippmann A5 as it comes ready with the cyclone feed system.

Tippmann A5 Paintball Marker

You can also read our in-depth reviews for Tippmann 98 Custom and Timmpann A5 to know all the details about them. And yes, our reviews also include a comparison table between the two to make things yet easier.

Customizations

The Tippmann 98 Custom also stands out for all the customizations it is open to. You can change this marker into literally anything and it will still keep rocking. Here are just a few possibilities to name what you can do with this gun.

  • Install a magfed conversion kit and make it into a magfed system.
  • Install an E-Trigger and make it into a fully automatic marker.
  • Install a double trigger to have better control.
  • Upgrade the barrel with a 16” sniper barrel and use it as a sniper rifle.
  • Install a first strike conversion kit and shoot those badass, shaped projectiles out of it.

Already amazed?

But this is not all!

You can use a flatline barrel to increase the range at it. Add on your scopes, sights, and lights to the Picatinny rails it features. Put a backstock if you like and adjust it according to your preferences and whatnot! This thing is truly incredible in regard to all the customizations it can take.

Maintenance

As we have already discussed above, this marker is coming with a two piece cover so you can disassemble the part you have to deal with and that has made the maintenance a whole lot easier than what it previously was.

Apart from that, the market is brimming with all the after-market stuff for Tippmann 98 Custom, so if you need to replace something, you will not have to face any problem whatsoever to find it.

But, the best part is, you hardly need to open these markers because they work unstoppable.

Pros

  • Durable Gun
  • Reliable
  • Crazy Customizable
  • Good Accuracy
  • Easy to Use and Maintain

Cons

  • Not a Single One to be Found!

Overall it has received 4.6 out of 5 stars ratings from the thousands of players who have used it.

Our Verdict

Above 90 percent of all paintball players start their paintball journey with a Tippmann 98 Custom and we find this practice 100 percent justified. It is the best starter gun for all the possible reasons in the world. It comes at a fairly cheap price, performs great, works tirelessly, turns into anything you want, and stays by your side no matter what kind of game you want to play. What Comes in the Box?

You cannot expect a low packing for something coming with a high-end price tag, but if it does, it must be a disappointment. Don’t worry. This marker is not going to disappoint you as it is coming in packaging worthy of it.

Field One Force Paintball Gun Unboxing

We received a sturdy cardboard box that had a beautiful bag inside. It is a zipped, black bag with numerous little compartments to hold every piece of this beautifully smart marker. The bag also has a strap with it so you can sling it across your shoulder instead of carrying it in your hands.

Enough about the box and the bag!

Let us tell you what we found inside that and we have got plenty of stuff to mention here as well. The upper compartment of the bag holds a bag strap, your warranty card, a barrel sleeve, and a packet of LiPo batteries with their charger. We will discuss these below.

On the flap of the bag you will get four pieces for your barrel and a pocket beside them holds some cards. These cards are there to provide you with all the essential information on the gun in a quick, precise way. Very helpful and smart we must admit!

The same pocket holds some lube and a wonderful little parts kit looking like a tiny briefcase. This little box looked like it was just about to come all over the place once we opened it. And we tried to open it with all the care and consideration to avoid that havoc but lo and behold! The tiny briefcase is further divided into the tiniest of compartments to hold all the different parts separately.

Field One Force Paintball Gun Box Content

And still, this is not all! The tiny briefcase also includes a card to guide you through what is inside those little compartments that have their separate flips to open them. We are totally impressed!

Oh no, no. We have not forgotten the marker. We were just building up curiosity, you know!

It is in the bag, right under another flip. Securely and snuggly tied to the box. Awaiting the coronation it is worthy of. Let us take out our new king.

Design and Build Quality

From the moment you lay your eyes on the Field One Force, you will be captivated by its sleek and aggressive aesthetics. It is available in a variety of colors and each color is an absolute head-turner in paintball fields because few can rival the awe-inspiring design and impeccable build quality of it.

The gun is made keeping all the ergonomics in mind. It features a comfortable back grip and an adjustable foregrip to give a personalized experience. The strategically placed texturing and finger grooves provide a secure and comfortable grip, ensuring the gun feels like an extension of your body even when you are playing for long hours.

Field One Force Paintball Gun Black

You can locate a little screen at the backside of the grip that shows you all the statistics of the gun. It also shows the results from the eyes of the markers and this marvelous marker has got two eyes inside it to minimize the risk of ball breakage.

As far as the weight is concerned, the marker is a bit heavier as compared to some others but it is certainly not going to make you feel tired under it.

Barrel

Were you astonished when we said this marker is coming with four pieces of the barrel? Did you wonder if you are going to use all of them to make it work? Here are the answers.

This high-end, top quality marker comes with a barrel system called the Accu-Lock barrel system. It contains a back cover that holds a two piece barrel. You can insert two different sizes of barrels in it. The box includes .683 and .691 insert barrels that feature a huge difference in diameter. That enables you to use different sizes of paint in your marker by simply changing the barrel insert.

Once you have inserted your preferred size in the cover, you can attach it to the front barrel very smoothly and attach it to your marker with a click.

Barrels of Field One Force Paintball Gun

The Internal System

The Field One Force is featuring one of the cleanest internal assemblies you will see inside a paintball marker. It has a uniquely designed hammer and bolt assembly that requires minimal maintenance and change of O rings because of its well thought design.

The receiver, or the back grip is attached to the main assembly without any wires poking out of the two pieces. The grip is covered with a flap and it opens to let you switch between the 2-A batteries it comes ready with and the LiPo batteries you can exchange them with.

Batteries

So let us talk about the batteries of this marker in detail. It comes with two choices for you. You can either use the 2-A batteries that come inside the marker, already connected and working. You can find these in the foregrip.

Pro Tip: Be careful when you are opening the foregrip. The little flap underneath the grip opens by rotating the screw underneath only to the quarter of a circle with the help of an Allen key. While putting it back, make sure you put the side that says “front” to the front of the gun and not vice versa. It clicks on its place simply with a little push and you do not need the Allen wrench again.

Or you can replace them with LiPo or Lithium Polymer batteries that are rechargeable. It not only provides you with the freedom of choice, but it also gives you a backup system that you can switch to if you run out of batteries in the middle of a game.

Performance and Accuracy

The Field One Force shows amazing performance in the fields. It is highly accurate, works smoothly, and is amazingly air efficient.

Customization

This amazing marker is capable of taking a lot of customization. From interchangeable grips and barrels to accessory rails, and color kits, you have the freedom to tailor your marker to reflect your unique style and preferences.

Pros

  • Aesthetically Beautiful
  • Durable and Well Built
  • Versatile
  • Easy to Use and Maintain
  • Customizable

Cons

  • Costlier than other guns.

Ratings and Reports of Players

They like its exceptional accuracy, and consistency, making it a dominant force in the field. The players report a significant positive impact on their gameplay with the help of this extraordinary paintball gun and rated it 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Our Verdict

It is a masterpiece in electronic markers and it is reigning supreme. It gives an exceptional performance, it is reliable, looks cool, and surpasses the competition in every aspect.

Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer to the world of paintball, the Field One Force offers an accessible and user friendly experience. But as it is coming at quite a high price tag, we recommend the beginners to get familiar with some budget friendly options and then upgrade to this beauty if you want to.

But, if you are a professional looking for something to rule the fields of speedball, this is what you need.

We give it a 9.5 out of 10 on our scale.

But if you want to start your journey with this mighty marker, you can buy the complete kit here to get you started.

Here is another high-end marker you might want to consider.

What Comes in the Box?

This paintball marker is coming in a hard cardboard box that has got separate compartments for all the pieces it comes with. Inside the box, we got our main marker, a two piece barrel, a barrel sleeve, a parts kit, Allen keys, a few O rings, a little tube of lubricant, and a brief manual.

Planet Eclipse Etha 3 Electronic Paintball Marker

Design and Build Quality

Like most electronic paintball markers, the Planet Eclipse Etha 3 is available in a variety of colors. It has a compact and sleek design with a futuristic touch to it. The marker assembly is covered in polymer but underneath it has a solid aluminum build to give it durability and strength.

It comes with a 14 ½ inches two piece barrel and a blade style trigger. The trigger is extremely smooth and comfortable to use but if you do not like that style, you can surely replace it with whatever you like.

The feed neck above the barrel is pretty flexible and goes well with a variety of hoppers.

Comfort Level

The Planet Eclipse Etha 3 Electronic Marker provides an extremely user friendly experience to its players. You do not need any Allen keys to change the batteries. You just need to pull the tab underneath the foregrip, push the sides and the battery cover comes out, giving way to the 9V batteries this marker works with.

It has an up-and-out bolt system. Push the bolt upwards and it simply slides out of the gun, so you can clean, grease, or do whatever business you have got there.

Additionally, the marker is ambidextrous, so no matter if you are using your left hand or the right one, it is going to give you all the freedom and information from both sides through its LED light indicators.

The only hard time you can expect to have using this marker is the programming part. It is a lot easier on the guns that come with LED screens, but you cannot really complain at the low price point it is coming.

Performance and Accuracy

We tested our gun right out of the box, and without any modifications made to it, the gun shoots amazingly smooth and accurately.

It has an extraordinarily smooth feel to it that pleases your hand and elevates your mood, plus confidence.

Maintenance

As we have already mentioned, this marker is absolutely easy to use and maintain. You can reach the bolt assembly, as well as the batteries, without needing any kind of tools.

Pros

  • Sleek and Beautiful Look
  • Lightweight
  • Accurate Right Out of the Box
  • Easy to Use
  • Easy to Maintain
  • Ambidextrous
  • Budget Friendly

Cons

  • Programming can be difficult without an LED screen.

Ratings and Reports of Players

The Planet Eclipse Etha 3 has generally been rated positive by the players who used it. They like the look and the feel of this marker. It gives a good performance, shoots accurately, and works smoothly. Players are in love with the easy to maintain design and tool-free, up-and-out bolt system. They also praise the blade trigger and how smoothly it works. But, most of all, they love the fact that they can have this beautiful electronic marker at a reasonable price.

It has been rated 5 out of 5 stars by the players who used it.

Our Verdict

The Planet Eclipse Series is not new in the market, instead, it has matured over the years, listened to what its users had to say, and modified the marker accordingly.

If you are looking for a quality electronic marker, that you can rely on in rough and tough battlefields of paintball, you can trust this one. The marker is well built. It is ergonomically designed and easy to use. It has the trusted Planet Eclipse tag with it and, FYI, Planet Eclipse has strong customer care service. So even if you find any fault with the gun, or have some complaint about it, they are gonna try their best to sort it out.

We give it an 8.5 out of 10 on our scale.

It is a great beginner gun, so if you are a beginner and looking for your complete brand new kit, with all the necessary gear, you must check the link below.

Plus, if you want to have the mechanical version of this gun, you can have that too. It looks and works quite similarly except, of course, the electronic parts.

What Comes in the Box?

This marker is coming in a small, glossy cardboard box with everything neatly packed inside foam slots.

The box had two sections. We got the marker in the upper section, snuggly packed in its slot. The section underneath had a manual, a parts kit, a barrel, and a barrel sleeve.

Empire Mini GS Paintball Gun Unboxing

Design and Build Quality

Available in a variety of colors, this little gun is quite small. Yes, it is true to its name, it is supposed to be small. It is extremely compact and lightweight which makes it best suitable for younger players.

They have made a few differences in the design from the previous models, and now we have a rubberized foregrip that gives much better control over the marker.

It also features a gauge on the bottom with the ASA line. You need to keep an eye on the gauge and it must not surpass 200 PSI on it because if it does, that is going to damage your gun.

Performance and Reliability

The Mini GS has an internal system similar to many other Empire guns and it works great in the fields. It shoots accurately and that is a must have option in paintball fields.

A worth mentioning feature of this marker is the design of its bolt. It is a very well designed bolt with a very few O rings that need maintenance and changing and that makes it a great gun.

Comfort of Use

There is nothing difficult about this gun when it comes to using it. The grip is comfortable, the blade trigger works wonderfully smooth and the marker is fully programmable.

It features a clamping feed neck over it that is easy to use, plus you can adjust the hopper with an Allen wrench if you are using different sized hoppers on it.

In addition to these features, this little marker comes with a 14 inch stock barrel, so you do not have to upgrade it to increase the accuracy. Even though you can do the upgrade if you really want to.

Maintenance

Unfortunately, there are a few complications about this gun that make it a bit difficult to maintain.

Firstly, you need an Allen wrench to take the bolt out. It is not so difficult, but now the bolt systems are quite common that just pop out of the gun so this one seems relatively time taking.

The second inconvenience you will face with it is the eye cleaning procedure. So if you happen to break paint inside the marker and in front of the eye system, you will have to take apart the entire gun to clean the eyes. That is quite a lot of trouble, to be honest.

This inconvenience has been taken care of in the next editions of this gun. The Empire Axe 2.0 offers a much easier experience, but you will have to spend a few extra bucks to have that. Here is a link to that if you want to consider it.

Pros

  • Good Looks
  • Lightweight
  • Budget Friendly
  • Good Accuracy

Cons

  • Maintenance is a bit difficult on this gun.

Ratings and Reports of Players

The Empire Mini GS is quite popular among paintball players, especially beginners. They like the quality and performance of this gun in a low price range. Players also praise the performance of its stock barrel and the accuracy it gives. They like its size and weight so that it does not make them tired under it.

There are a few complaints too. The players with larger hands and overall larger body build do not like the size of this gun as they do not feel it comfortable in their hands. While the others do not like the effort this marker requires to clean and maintain it.

Overall, it has received 4.5 out of 5 stars from thousands of customers who used it.

Our Verdict

This gun is great in the way it performs. It is a trusted system by the Empire that works great and yet comes at an affordable price. Although there are a few drawbacks to consider before making a decision, we have already discussed them above.

We recommend the Empire Mini GS if you are just starting out as a paintball player and looking for an electronic system. You will have to put some effort into it to maintain it, but that will only make you better familiar with the inner system so you are ready to upgrade your gun and maintain it later. But do not buy it if you have big hands, or you are going to regret it. Consider the other options that come at an extra price but suit you better.

We give it an 8 out of 10 on our scale.

What Comes in the Box?

This is one of those markers that have the power to impress you right out of the box. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box and the box asks you to “Say Hello to Your New EMEK!” And you know what, you instantly comply, because you just cannot resist.

Take off the lid of the box and inside lies your beautiful marker all in one piece and you can have it without going through the trouble of assembling it first.

Planet Eclipse Emek EMF MG 100 Paintball Gun

There is another smaller cardboard box within the actual box and it says “Accessories Kit” and here is what comes inside it. A manual with all the necessary instructions, Two barrel sleeves, a magazine, a pal loader adapter, a hopper adapter, two stock adapters, a few O rings, a spring for your magazine, and some lube. If you are confused about what some of these things are, just do not worry. We will be explaining all of them one by one.

Design and Build Quality

This is a well designed magfed system that is built to perform wonders in fields. It comes in black color, has beautiful looks, works in various scenarios, and feels comfortable in your hands.

As we already mentioned, the gun comes fully assembled with a 14 inch, two piece barrel attached to it and a shroud covering it all the way. This shroud not only gives it a unique look but also provides you with a lot of Picatinny rails to add your accessories to it.

And the best part about the shroud is, if you do not need it all, or if you just do not like the look of it, you can remove half of the shroud and use the other half. You will find four little tabs in the box that allow you to attach the two pieces of the shroud together. Yes, you only need two of them at a time because the tabs are a bit fragile and can break during the process you are placing them in or out.

Pro Tip: While removing the tabs, try to pull them out as straight as possible and you can save them from breaking.

Remember the two barrel sleeves we mentioned above? One barrel sleeve is big enough to cover the barrel with the shroud on it, and the other can be used if you are using half of the shroud and only need the barrel cover.

Feed System

The Emek EMF 100 is popularly used as a magfed marker and is one among the top rated magfed Paintball Guns because it gives a matchless performance in magfed games, but you can also attach a hopper adapter ( which comes in the box) and use it as a hopper fed system too.

The gun originally comes with a dummy magazine attached to it. This magazine just serves the purpose to prevent your paint from falling down if you are using this gun as a hopper fed system. But if you want to use it as a magfed system, you will have to attach the 10 round magazine that comes with it. This is certainly not the only magazine that you can use with it, you can buy some extras from the market and have them for the backup. You can also buy the Di magazines and have some extra capacity.

Still this is not all!

This Black Beauty is compatible with first strikes too. It has literally left nothing behind to make it a superb marker.

And the best part is yet to come, the hopper adapter on this marker is Pro Pal Loader compatible. You do not need to worry about the ball chopping inside your marker anymore. You can watch a few YouTube videos to see how that works.

Planet Eclipse EMEK EMF 100 Paintball Gun Review

Back Stock

As you must be aware, the back stock is extremely important if you are playing magfed. So this marker comes with plenty of options for the back stocks too.

The marker comes with a cap for the back stock if you want to use it without one. But, if you want to attach one, you have got two options. Use the straight end and attach the backstock straight behind it. Or you can use drop-end attachments too. This attachment will allow you to attach your back stock a little downwards if you like it that way.

The stock attachments are extremely easy to install and simply slide into the slot without any tools. And, to make everything still better and easier, these attachments are compatible with the Tippmann 98 Custom stocks, so you won’t have any hard time finding the variety of stocks for it.

Customization

We have already talked about some of the options for customization above, like using the entire shroud or half of it, using it as a magfed system, or with a hopper on it.

Apart from these, you can make this gun a lot more personalized with a ton of different options. The marker has a lot of space for mount-on options all over it. You can put a sling around it, put on your laser, scope, sights, lights, and whatever you want.

Velocity and Accuracy

This versatile marker has an adjustable velocity option that can be set between 250 to 375 FPS. As far as the accuracy is concerned, this amazing marker is wonderfully accurate right out of the box. It comes with a two piece 14 inch stock barrel that makes it perfectly accurate without any modifications.

It works great as a sniper rifle for its good accuracy as well as first strike compatibility. You can still enhance the accuracy and range with a barrel upgrade and the use of first strikes.

Pros

  • Beautifully Designed
  • Durable
  • Dual Feed System
  • First Strike Compatibility
  • Easily Customizable
  • Highly Accurate

Cons

  • It works great as a rifle and has the right size, but it might have a bigger size than some people wish for.

Ratings and Reports of Players

The Planet Eclipse Emek EMF MG 100 is a quite popular marker, especially among magfed players and paintball snipers. Players love the accuracy of this marker and its compatibility with first strikes. According to some, it is the best magfed system, an amazing woodsball marker, and one of the best sniper rifles available. Players also note its customization options. They love to give it a personal touch and modify it according to their preferences and needs.

There are a few dissatisfied customers too, who think that this gun’s price mark is a bit too high, but the performance and features it offers to justify each penny you are spending on it.

It has been given 4.9 out of 5 star ratings from the players who are using it.

Our Verdict

We strongly recommend this marker if you are looking for a reliable system or a paintball rifle or gun for woodsball. It is a great gun with the perfect kind of design and performance you can wish for in a perfect marker. It comes ready with a 14 inch barrel and first strike compatibility which surely is a dream of every sniper. It is a mechanical system so there are no complications of programming involved. It is a semi automatic gun and will shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger. There are no problems with maintenance whatsoever.

It might look a bit expensive for a mechanical marker, but the performance it guarantees is worth all your money.

We give this marker a straight 9 out of 10 on our scale.

Here is the complete starter package we recommend if you are going to start out as a new player with your own gear.

JT Splatmaster Z 18 Paintball Marker Review

Now if you are here looking for a gun for your young kid who just wants to have fun in a field with his age fellows, or even in the backyard, this gun goes for you.

It is by Splatmaster and it functions like most of their other guns, that is, without an air source. These guns are .50 cal. and spring powered. And that is exactly what makes them the best option for kids as young as 8 years old. Let’s see how!

ColorNeon Green, Red
MaterialPlastic
Caliber.50
Feed SystemHopper fed and magfed
Power SourceSpring Powered
Mechanical/ ElectronicPump Action
Semi/ Full AutoSemi Auto

What Comes in the Box?

We received our JT Splatmaster Z18 in a sturdy cardboard box which, we must add, was pretty colorful. Just like anything for young kids should be.
Inside the box, we got our marker, a hopper, a barrel blocking device, and a manual.

Design and Build Quality

This marker is mostly made out of plastic and comes in two different colors; green and red. And we find its design quite interesting.

It is basically designed for kids but that does not mean adults cannot play with it. This is actually a great gun for all beginners especially if you are holding yourself from the fun of paintball only because you are afraid of the notorious sting. We are bringing more about it in the details below so keep reading.

It is a spring powered gun so you have to cock it back every time you want to shoot, so it can slow you down in the game. But it is a perfect choice if your opponents are playing with the same type of gun.

Feed System

No matter how incredible it may sound, this little, lightweight marker has a dual feed system. It comes as a hopper fed system in the box, with a dummy magazine sticking out of it. That dummy magazine serves the purpose of a foregrip and gives you better control over the marker. The marker comes with a hopper attached to it that can fit two hundred .50 caliber balls in it. But here is the fun part, you can change the magazine from a dummy to a real one whenever you want and level up your gameplay.

The marker is compatible with the Tippmann .50 caliber magazines that you can purchase by clicking on the link below.

Magazine Conversion

If you are interested in changing this marker to a magfed system, you can do it by following the instruction given below. It is not the easiest task to do, but certainly not the most difficult too. You can get it done with a little help from our side.

Here is the simple step by step process.

  • Remove the four screws you see around the piece holding the feed neck. Once you have removed the screws, the cap covering the feed neck will come out.
Removing screws of JT Splatmaster Z 18 Paintball Gun to convert to Megfed marker
  • Take out the feed neck.
  • Pull the pump arm and cock your gun, this will enable you to take out the feed assembly and the barrel.
  • Now what you need to do is to flip the feed assembly so that the breech that takes paintballs is no more facing upwards, but settles facing downwards.
Pushing back the pump arm of JT Splatmaster Z 18 Paintball Gun
  • Push back the pump arm and place the cover back on. Tighten your screws back and that’s it!
  • If you have doubts about it and want to double-check, simply remove the dummy mag and look into it. If you can see into the chamber, you are good to go.
Ensuring everything is alright for magfed JT Splatmaster Z 18 Paintball Marker
  • Insert in your real magazine with .50 caliber balls in it and enjoy!

Velocity and Accuracy

This is a pump action marker so you cannot expect the velocity to be as high as the guns operating with gas. But that is what makes it suitable for kids. To be exact, it shoots at 120 FPS, and with .50 caliber ammo, it does not hurt much.

You might be disappointed about the accuracy of this gun, but it is just a toy. Powered by a spring it shoots accurately to around 30 feet and that is fine for the kids who are enjoying it in their backyard.

Warning: No matter how harmless the gun might seem, do not let your kids play without an eye mask, ever. The gun does not hurt much on any other areas of the body, but hitting in the eye can still cause serious damage.

The Comfort of Use

As we have repeatedly mentioned, this marker is specifically designed for kids, so it is one of the easiest options for paintball markers you will see on the market.

There is no hassle of carrying a huge gas tank with it, nor the risk involved with it. It is extremely lightweight. Plus, it has an adjustable stock on it, you can not only adjust it according to your preferences, but you can also remove it altogether if you want to.

It is a pump action marker, but the pump spring is not hard to cock and works smoothly.

Overall, the gun feels super easy and comfortable in the hands of kids.

Pros

  • Easy to Use
  • Lightweight
  • No Risk of Pressurized Gas Involved
  • Does Not Hurt
  • Looks Cute For Kids
  • Decent Range of Accuracy
  • Dual Feed System

Cons

  • It is more like a toy and not a real gun to be used against players holding gas powered markers.
  • It is a dual feed system but does not come with a magazine.

Ratings and Reports of Players

Splatmasters are very well reputed for their .50 caliber markers. People love them for their young kids because they come at a low price and give good performance. Many people have reviewed it as the best marker for their young ones because it does not involve the risk of gas. They like it for their kids because it does not hurt when hit and still offers so much fun with all the colors and splatters.

It has got a 4.3 out of 5 star ratings from the customers who have used it.

Our Verdict

The JT Splatmaster Z18 is a great paintball marker for kids and one of its kind on our list. If you are looking for a gun for your kid under the age of 10, there is no better option than this. It has the feel and looks needed to let your kid be introduced to the fun sport of paintball without having you worried about the pain or the risk of pressurized gas. Plus, you do not have to spend a lot to get your kid started. And you do not have to worry about the loss if your kid gets it broken or damaged, as it is just a toy!

We give it an 8.5 out of 10 on our scale for the best gun for kids under 10 years of age.

Here is another you might want to consider. This one too is a great option for kids but has a different system and an even lower price tag.

What Comes in the Box?

This special marker comes in a special huge box that is worth mentioning here. It is a hard plastic case with four feet underneath so you can make it stand, or just lay it down and keep your marker inside, all safe and protected. It has also got two little hooks on it that you can put through your lock and keep it safe from intruders. But certainly, you cannot rely on its safety as it is just a plastic box and can be broken by an outer force.

Well, enough about the box, let us start talking about its components. Inside the fully foamed and padded box, lies a fully assembled marker surrounded by some spare parts of it. It has a barrel shroud on it and also a backstock attached. And if you look closely, you will see a 13 ci HPA tank underneath that back stock. Yes, this incredible marker comes with its very own gas tank.

Apart from that marker, you will be getting a ton of different things, including a 14 ½ barrel, two magazines, a few Allen keys, O rings, a barrel sleeve, a mock suppressor, three stock rails, a few screws, some rails, an adjustable riser, and a comprehensive manual.

If you are not familiar with some of these items and wondering what they are for, continue reading. You will get all your answers below as we discuss all the unfamiliar items on this list.

First Strike FS T15 DMR Paintball Gun

Design and Build Quality

DMR stands for Designated Marksman Rifle, so it is among the few paintball markers that are essentially designed as rifles. This beautiful marker is perfectly designed to look and function as a modern tactical rifle. It has a realistic look and comes in black color. There are few rifles that can rival the beauty of this marker.

It is mostly made up of high quality aluminum which contributes to its durability and ruggedness. The quad-rails shroud gives you plenty of space to add on your scopes, sights, lasers, and whatever else you want.

The mere look of this marker speaks volumes of its high craftsmanship. It is made with all the ergonomics in mind and that makes it absolutely comfortable in your hands. The adjustable stock has made things even easier.

Feed System

As we have already said, the First Strike FS T15 DMR is a magfed gun and comes with two 20-round magazines.

Now you must be wondering if it is a magfed system only because we have not mentioned hoppers anywhere till now.

But… Here is the moment of truth!

This is a dual feed system and you can make a switch to hopper fed. Unfortunately, it does not come with a hopper adapter in the box, but you can certainly buy one easily and modify it.

Another great feature about it is its first strike compatibility. Yes, It is a First Strike gun and comes to take the shaped projectiles. And, if you are familiar with that ammo, you must know how far an advantage it can give you over your opponents.

Gas System

This amazing marker runs on HPA and offers a lot of options for how you are going to do it.

  • You can use the 13ci tank that comes in the box and run a back stock on it.
  • You can run a remote line on it because it comes ready with a remote line set up and uses any carbon fiber gas tank you want.
  • And, if you do not want to use either of these options, you can use it as a gas through system. The adapter that converts the remote line system to a gas through system comes with the gun, so no worries about that too!

Stock Rails

We mentioned three stock rails that come in the box. These rails are there to help you put your gas tank in the stock. Because, if you tried to slide the stock on without first attaching the rail to your gas tank, it would simply slip off. These rails help the stock and the tank stay together.

Just do not try to fix all of them together with the marker. You are only going to need one at a time. The other two are there to help you if you are using more than one tank, or in case you get them broken.

First Strike FS T15 DMR Best Sniper Paintball Gun Review

Adjustable Riser

Another notable feature of this marker is the adjustable riser it comes with. As it is a rifle setup, most probably you are using it to take aim from longer distances. And to help you with that, the marker comes with an adjustable riser that you can mount on the top of this rifle and add your scope to it.

With the help of this riser, you cannot only adjust the height of your scope, but you can also adjust it to different angles and take the perfect aim.

You see, we didn’t call it the best for no reason.

Mock Suppressor

Imagine yourself ambushing in a perfect space and waiting for your opponents to pass by. You see one, shoot one, and the loud blast gives away your position, making the rest of them alert. Yeah… Snipers know the pain!

To solve your problem, this marvelous marker is coming with a mock suppressor. It is not as effective as the real suppressors on firearms, but you can decide that for yourself. Some players like to attach it because they like the look of it. And so can you.

But if you do not like the look, you can simply remove the mock suppressor and put on the cap that comes with it at the end of the barrel.

Range and Accuracy

As it is a designated rifle, it has to shoot accurately to long distances, and it perfectly does that!

It comes with a 14 ½ inch micro-honed, rifled barrel that helps it shoot better and farther.

As you know, the range of a marker is determined by several factors including the marker, the ammo, and the player’s skill level. And if you can take the most out of this rifle, it will shoot to 100 feet range.

Do you still think your opponents stand a chance against it?

Pros

  • Beautiful Design
  • Amazing Accuracy
  • Good Range
  • Has an Adjustable Riser
  • Mock Suppressor
  • Dual Feed System
  • Compatible with First Strikes

Cons

  • The price tag may seem heavy to some.

Ratings and Reports of Players

First Strike FS T15 DMR is one of the most favorite markers with magfed and sniper players. Players love the look and build quality of this marker. They appreciate the amazing system and durability of this marker that can stand the rough and tough environments of paintball fields. But most of all, players appreciate the range and accuracy of this marker. And the versatility it offers is considered a big plus.

For a few customers, it is not more expensive than they would like it to be. But the quality it offers is justifying its price tag perfectly.

It has got 4.3 out of 5 star ratings by all the paintball enthusiasts who used it.

Our Verdict

This is one of the best paintball rifles that you can have at an affordable price. We have listed a couple of high-end rifles below, but if you are looking for something awesome that does not cost you an arm or a leg, this is your go to option. The other stuff includes a barrel, a barrel sleeve, some O rings, Allen keys, lube, a battery, and a short manual.

Dye Rize CZR Paintball Gun Review

Design and Build Quality

This paintball marker is on our list because it is one of the best electronic systems that you can find for under 500 Dollars. It is available in multiple colors and they have changed the material on this marker for a few parts.

The feed neck on it is now made of composite, and instead of making it threaded, they have designed it as a clamp-on system. It is much better that way as it does not include the risk of the threads wearing off and your marker betraying you at crucial times.

It has a cool blade trigger that is easy to pull so you can shoot non stop in the fields of speedball.

Eye System

Another remarkable feature of this little gun is its self cleaning eye system.

Yes! You read that right.

Self cleaning eye system of Dye Rize CZR Paintball Gun

It is a 4th generation pipe eye system that comes in the shape of a little plastic pipe that you can pull out with the help of your finger and give a deep clean. Remember this is the worst you need to do with it. You do not need to use any tools and disassemble the gun to clean it.

Normally, when you break a ball inside it, it gets itself cleaned with the help of the bolt coming in and out of it.

It is a feature unique to some Dye markers only, and there are not many markers that have such an easy-to-clean eye system. In fact, if you compare it with The Empire Mini GS, in this regard the markers seem to be at two poles.

Accuracy and Performance

Accuracy is another strong feature of this marker. It comes with a 14 inch two piece barrel. As you might know, the Dye barrels have a reputation for being the best barrels with micro honing. This feature makes them one of the few barrels in the market with such amazing accuracy.

As far as the performance of the marker is concerned, it shoots perfectly smooth. It is quite lightweight and feels perfect in your hands. The grip is also made of composite, just like the previous models, and gives you a comfortable hold on the marker.

Comfort of Use

The Dye Rize CZR is often listed as one of the best starter speedball guns because of the comfort of use it offers. We already talked about the eye cleaning system that is surely going to make your life a lot easier.

Apart from that, the gun is ergonomically perfect. It has got the perfect spacing between the receiver and the foregrip so you can handle it comfortably.

This marker is often compared with Empire Mini GS, you can watch this video to have a better idea of which gun will suit you the best.

Pros

  • Easy to Use
  • Affordable
  • Self Cleaning Eye System
  • Best Quality Micro Honed Barrel
  • Easy to Maintain

Cons

  • Does not have as many color options as some other guns.

Ratings and Reports of Players

This gun is rapidly gaining popularity among new speedball players. Players like the feel and look of this marker. They appreciate the design. But the biggest hit about it is the eye system. They love not having to disassemble the marker only to clean the eyes. The marker is a favorite with beginners in particular because it is easy to use, easy to maintain, and gives an extraordinary performance in the fields.

Some players complained about the gas leakage on their new marker, but that looks more like bad luck hitting these people.

It has got 4.3 out of 5 star ratings from the players who have used it.

Our Verdict

If you asked us for a speedball marker that gives the best value for the money, we will recommend this one. It is just perfect for beginner speedball players with all the ease it provides. There are no complexities involved with cleaning and maintaining, and the price mark is also very low.

Plus, it does not give a bad first experience to make you hate the game. On the contrary, the shooting is smooth and it is pretty accurate with that awesome barrel on it that we have already talked about.

We give it a 9.5 out of 10 on our scale for the best starter speedball marker.

Design and Build Quality

The Tippmann TipX has a compact and sleek design that can be customized to a great extent. The ergonomics of the grip are making sure that the players do not have to face any difficulty while holding or carrying it around.

It is made of high quality aluminum and composite which makes it highly durable. And, as it is made by Tippmann, you cannot question its reliability.

Apart from that, it features a quick release magazine system so you can switch the magazines as rapidly as possible during the games. It also has Picatinny rails so you do not have to worry about adding on your accessories to enhance its performance and looks as well.

Feed System

Like most pistols, the TipX is a magfed system and comes with two 7 round magazines that you can switch in the easiest possible way. Plus, there are many different magazines available in the market that you can use for this pistol. You can use 10 or even 20 round magazines which will save you time by not having to change them as often.

Another notable feature here is the design of the receiver here. The receiver has three windows on the side that allow you to peek inside and see how many rounds you have left in there.

You can buy the most popular Trufeed magazines here that work great with it.

Propellent Gas

The TipX runs at 12 gram CO2 cartridges that go beneath the barrel. As it is a pistol, many a time it is used as a sidearm (or even as a self defense gun), and the 12 gram cartridges are enough for it. But if you are thinking about taking it as your main marker, this might be a problem for you as you will have to replace the cartridges quite often.

It is a well thought design because if you are familiar with 12 gram CO2 cartridges, not all of them come in the same size. They may vary in length and that is why the cap that pictures the CO2 cartridges is adjustable, you can use it for all sizes and have no worry about the brand!

As far as the puncturing of the CO2 canister is concerned, you do not have to do it manually like most of the other pistols. Simply insert the canister and pull the trigger, the first trigger pull will puncture the cartridge and the second trigger pull will shoot the first round.

Pro Tip: You can also use a remote line adapter and run this pistol on whatever gas tank you want to. You will have to sacrifice the look and the weight of the pistol but it will save you a lot of time. Just do not forget to keep an empty 12 gram canister inside or your pistol will leak all the gas.

First Strike Compatibility

This marker is not compatible with first strikes as it comes, but you can make it work for that too only after making a few changes.

All you need to do is to change the barrel, install a gun head, and woosh… you are ready to rock with first strikes in this little marker.

Customization

Like almost all Tippmann markers, TipX also takes customizations with open arms. We have already discussed a few modifications you can make to it but there are numerous changes you can make with it to enhance its performance as well as looks.

Accuracy and Performance

This .68 caliber pistol is determined not to disappoint you in any way. Despite having the short barrel typical to pistols, this wonderful marker is accurate to above 50 feet right out of the box.

You can rely on it in tough times with all its accuracy, durable build, and tried and tested Tippmann system.

Uses

The Tippmann TipX is a quite popular marker but it is not limited to paintball fields only. It is often used as a training pistol and a less than lethal self defense tool and the credit goes to its compact design and power.

Pros

  • Reliable Inner System
  • Compact Design
  • Durable Build
  • Super Customizable
  • Good Accuracy

Cons

  • The 12 gram CO2 cartridges may not be enough for all styles of gameplay.
